About Me
Hi there, I’m Rebecca, the nutritionist behind Poppy Nutrition. I love helping people reconnect and trust their own inner knowledge with food. I came into nutrition as a combination of my love of food, cooking, science, and my desire to help myself and others nourish their bodies to feel as well and healthful as possible.
As a child, I was taught to listen to my body but I wandered away from that practice when I started noticing social pressures and expectations. I am now learning to tap back into that incredible source of wisdom.
I discovered I had a thyroid condition a few years ago and after a bit of shock, decided to start working with my own innate knowledge, my nutrition and functional medicine education, and my health care providers. It has been an experience with a lot of learning, but I have found multiple ways to support my own health. I'm feeling more like myself now than I have most of my adult life.

I live in Boulder, CO and love the large open spaces. One of my favorite self care activities is heading up the road to hike around the foothills. I feel like I can breathe deeply and unwind in those beautiful, quiet moments of open expanse. I even keep a small crew of houseplants to help bring that outside feel indoors, though I also grow a small container garden in summer so it may just be my love for plants. I also treasure taking a break from day to day life to immerse in the magic of Disney. I will probably cry every time I watch the fireworks or get to meet the Big Cheese, Mickey Mouse. I take time to enjoy my inner child because those moments remind me that the world is a better place when I greet it with an open heart.
The name Poppy Nutrition stems from a familiar place, both similar to my own last name and because Poppy was my grandfather’s nickname. I never knew him by any other name until after he was gone and I was grown. As I was struggling to find a business name, a friend offered the idea of poppy based on my last name. I thought of my grandfather, thought of the beautiful flowers that do so well in the wild, and the name stuck.
